Cookies

Quick Summary
Cookies are tiny files that websites store on your device to remember things like whether you're logged in or what's in your basket. Nothing scary, just helpful bits of memory. We use three types: Essential cookies (the ones that make Basket actually work — you can't turn these off), Analytics cookies (help us understand what features people use so we can make improvements), and Marketing cookies (for personalised ads, which you can totally say no to).
Good news from UK law: since the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 came into effect, we don't need your permission for analytics cookies anymore because they're not used for marketing — just making the service better for everyone. But we'll always ask before using marketing cookies. When you first visit our website, you'll see a cookie banner with "Accept All" and "Reject All" buttons that are equally easy to — we're not trying to trick you into anything.
If you block marketing cookies, no worries — Basket works exactly the same, you just won't see personalised ads. Block essential cookies will break things (you can't log in, can't save products, etc.). You can change your mind anytime through your browser settings or our cookie banner. The full details are below if you want the complete picture.

Marketing SDKs (Consent Required)
5.3 Browser Extension Cookies
Our browser extension requires certain permissions to function:
UI Visibility:
- Extension UI now appears on all webpages so you can save any page when needed
- Extension appearing on a page does NOT mean we're tracking your journey on that page
- You can request specific domains be added to our presentational blacklist to hide the extension UI by emailing support@trybasket.com
Essential Functions:
- Product price tracking on retailer sites
- Automatic coupon application at checkout
- Cashback activation and tracking
- Saved products synchronisation
Data Collection Rules:
Detailed Journey Tracking (Whitelisted Sites Only):
- URLs of whitelisted retailer pages you visit
- Shopping cart contents and modifications
- Click patterns and scroll depth
- Time spent on product pages
- Applied coupon codes
Product Data Collection (Any Page):
- Product details (name, price, availability, images, reviews) when schema.org/Product metadata detected
- Product page URL
- Time and date when viewed
This data collection cannot be disabled while using the extension. To stop collection, uninstall the extension.
Important: The blacklist only controls where the extension UI appears. It does not change what data is collected or where collection occurs. Journey tracking remains limited to whitelisted sites, and product data collection occurs wherever product metadata is detected.
